These elegant, familiar leaves undergo many steps of kiln formed methods to be created. Base pieces of glass are skillfully cut to shape for each leaf. The center spine is added and background color layer of crushed glass is applied for the first firing. Additional layers of crushed glass to delineate the ridged effects and enhance the color are applied on subsequent firings. Once the artist is happy with the aesthetic, the gentle shaping and "attitude" is done by placing the work on custom slumping forms and fired for the last time. A hanging mechanism is attached to the back of the pieces which allow ease of installation and the ability to adjust the angle to the customers' desire. These pieces will enhance any environment and bring back memories of that trip to the tropics!
